From time to time, I've posted sports-themed posts on my other blogs, DiscConnected (music reviews and news) or Back In The USSR (political).

I decided to see if I could give ESPN 8 (The Ocho) a run for their money and started this blog.

I lifted the title from John DeBella's Philadelphia morning radio show back in the eighties.

PLAYER'S STRIKE

Not so much a strike as a sabatical.

I plan to take the month of April off from blogging, but decided I'd start this blog's break now as the ideas for subject matter have not been flowing anyway.

Although I seem to get hits on this blog, I've only ever had one follower (and he probably followed more out of obligation than interest), so if you drop by and do normally find this blog amusing, I'd appreciate the feedback.

Well, obviously the one Follower you referred to is me, since I have always Followed this blog from the day I discovered it. And, no, I don't Follow it out of any misplaced sense of obligation; I've Followed it because I was interested in it.

But this blog has one very big problem (which we've discussed in the past)... the Comment Section never works. 99.10% of the time, this blog does not give a reader the opportunity to post a comment and interact with the blog's owner (i.e., you), so all a person can do is read it and then go away. In fact, I was utterly shocked to find, this time, that there WAS a link to click for leaving comments.

Of course, I have pointed out this problem to you in the past, and once or twice, you did some finagling in your Dashboard and corrected the problem, but each correction was good for that one post ONLY; the very next blog bit, the problem of no Comment Section reemerged.

I don't know what you could do about fixing the issue permanently (good luck contacting someone at Blogspot - that ain't gonna happen).

But, anyway, does this mean you're dropping out of BOTB for the month of April also? And does this mean you're going to ignore all your bloggy friends just because you yerself won't be bloggin'? (I'll bet it does.)

Good luck with whatever you're planning to do in the month of April.

If you use a racial slur on the field it's a 15 yard hate crime.

I don't know how I can WATCH sports any more, much less blog about them.

I give up-the liberals win! Hard-knocks football is no more...pretty soon they'll all be singing "Give Peace A Chance" instead of huddling.

I've tried a bunch of times to fix the commenting bug-I have no idea what the issue is.

I'll try to visit blogs, but will not post. So yes, it means I'm dropping BOTB (I was running low on Todd covers anyway) but does not mean I'm ignoring bloggy friends.

I've not been posting much of late anyway, but instead of thinking "I need to post something," now I can say "I'm on a sabbatical."

Is that for real? Or were you just joking to make a point?

I am not 100% sure it was adopted, but it was being seriously considered as a rule a week or two ago.

Our society has become so dependent on big brothers to defend them that it really sickens me.

America has lost its cajones. And I do not mean that in a sexist way.

The same pioneer spirit that moved across the country to settle the midwest and beyond, that stormed the beaches of Normandy and went into space...

Now needs a man in a black-and-white striped shirt to throw a yellow flag because one steriod-infused giant called another steriod-infused giant a "nigger."

Boo frickin hoo.

Good luck, America...

I hadn't heard about that. And I am with you entirely on the subject. However, the vast majority of my interest in sports dissipated quite a few years ago anyway.

Incidentally, I am planning to announce a bloggin' break soon myself. I have two A-list blog bits I intend to post (hopefully one of them will go up later today), and then two book reviews to post. And after that, I will be announcing a bloggin' break as well, except for the BOTB installments on the 1st and 15th of each month, which I intend to continue all along.

Yak Later, LC.
